FAQS

Where are you located?

The physical address is 101 E Buck Mountain Road, West Jefferson 28694.

How can I make an appointment?

Just call my office at 336-902-3888 or send me an email at factorcounselingservices@gmail.com.

What are your office hours?

My office hours vary, but I offer day and evening appointments and also see clients one Saturday morning each month.

Do you take insurance?

I am currently paneled with most Blue Cross Blue Shield insurance plans. For all other insurance plans, I am considered out-of-network and am unable to file insurance for these plans. However, I am happy to provide the necessary paperwork for my clients to file on their own. You would need to check with your company to see what they will reimburse.

What ages do you treat?

I see adolescents age 14 and older, along with adults.

What services so you provide?

I work with individuals, couples, and families–and also offer different counseling groups throughout the year.

How long are your sessions?

Individual sessions usually last 60 minutes. Couples and family sessions start at 90 minutes. I do offer longer “intensive” sessions if it is a good fit for the specific client. Group sessions run 90 minutes to 2 hours depending on the number of clients and topic of the group.

What problems do you treat?

I work with clients suffering from depression and other mood disorders, anxiety, grief, and emotional pain from trauma. I also provide secondary addiction support and work with those who are wishing to improve relationships. I suggest to most people that they call and share a bit of their story. Then I can assess if I would be a good fit or if I have a colleague that might better serve the individual.

What is your therapeutic approach?

I use an integrative approach to treatment that allows for individualized treatment. I am trained in experiential techniques and psychodrama and often use these tools in therapy to allow a client to process more quickly what changes might help them in their current situation.

Is what I share confidential?

With a few exceptions which we will cover at the first session, everything that is shared between a client and a therapist is kept completely confidential. This is the cornerstone of the process, in my opinion.

Will I have to lie on a couch?

I have a couch, and you are welcome to lie on it…I have! But it is not common or necessary.

What forms of payment do you accept?

I accept most major credit cards and can also process HSA cards. I also accept checks, and cash works here, too.

Do you have a therapy dog?

I bring my dog to my office on occasion, but only when she smells good. Her only purpose in life is to give love, and she does that with all her 5-lb. doggy self.
